纽约州博彩委员会 2020 年 4 月发布移动体育博彩研究初稿

New York State is on the verge of a long-anticipated gambling study that would shed more light on an ever-changing local field. Spectrum Gaming Group managed to outbid all rivals in the bidding process held by the New York State Gaming Commission, becoming the chosen one to conduct the study. It would focus on the potential impact of mobile sports wagering on the local field.

Right now locals are able to enjoy in-person sports betting within the four commercial casino resorts in Upstate New York. Tribal casino locations have also greenlighted sports wagering and they have premium sportsbooks available on site for a well-rounded experience. However, the state has not conducted a gambling study in the past 13 years while the local field has changed beyond recognition.

Spectrum Gaming Wins Bid

Next year would see the official issuing of information regarding the potential impact mobile sports wagering launch could have on New York State’s gaming scene. Projections on the way the field coudl be reshaped by it would be issued. As it was confirmed recently, Spectrum Gaming Group would conduct the study that could influence the decision of lawmakers.

December 1 is about to see its official start, as it is projected to span over the following six months. It could be recalled that the bidding process and the initial stages of this very study was supposed to happen in August this year, but several delays and a complete change of plans took place before it even started.

New York State Gaming Commission Executive Director Rob Williams stated that the leading factor of this study would be accuracy, instead of the speed it is conducted at. Spectrum Gaming would aim to put matters into perspective and seek a wider scope in order to bring the most comprehensive information on the specifics of mobile betting most appropriate given the environment.

Study Deadline is in June

The office of the State Comptroller is expected to give the contract a good look and issue its approval in the foreseeable future so that the project could commence next month. Spectrum Gaming was able to outbid the other two companies part of the bidding process. It is no secret that the company is a supporter of integrity fees implementation, considering them to have a positive impact on gaming revenue.

This could have an impact on the mobile sports wagering future of New York State. New York Sen. Joseph Addabbo Jr. wants to see sports betting available both online, via mobile apps, and at local racetracks. The first days of April are projected to see the first draft of this study, giving the company enough time to work on it. June 1 would be the project’s deadline. Spectrum Gaming has previously conducted gaming studies in Louisiana, Puerto Rico, and Washington D.C.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo would have to decide whether or not mobile sports betting has a place in the Empire State and the information issued by this study is projected to facilitate his decision. The study would cover the possible impact of online sports betting, as well as locations featuring VLTs and off-track betting locations. The most recent revenue report showed that October saw a drop in sports wagering to US$2.2 million, showing that mobile betting is a needed factor for remaining competitive.
